<p>Here&#8217;s a snippet from the Washington Post today:</p>

<p>Is this true? It seems like a simple enough statement that I should expect to find an easy justification in some economics textbook somewhere. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the field, so I&#8217;m asking the Internet.</p>
