You can return to the glory days of youthful fitness. I know, I was living proof of that when at age 43 I ran faster 10 miles and 10 ks than when i was 23. Of course but then after age 48 another decline set in and now, just running a 10 min mile would be an achievement!

But no reason not to try!! You only live once (unless you are a Buddhist).

Well, I'm not sure "naive" is the right word to apply here. I'm merely speculating. I suppose I sort of assumed that the US government would be involved, but the distinction between who is doing the spying is more of a nominal distinction. In the current legal climate, it has no practical importance. Does ATT monitor internet traffic? The answer may be a technical "no," but they provide all the infrastructure and most of the expertise that the government brings to bear on the problem.

its naive to think that a corporation could do counter espionage against a country. Most corporate ethics policies prevent that sort of behavior completely. It would only happen if the US gov't was involved.

We switched to repmat because it made the code run an order of magnitude faster on the MATLAB at the time. The problem with outer products is that it replicates the given vector by repeatedly performing floating-point multiplication by 1, as opposed to simply making copies of the entries.

cheers

I think it's pretty amazing that a large corporation is trying to embargo China. I think it's silly and probably won't do much of anything. Still, it feels like something out of a William Gibson novel.

Have you checked out Pymacs? http://pymacs.progiciels-bpi.ca/pymacs.html
I've also heard of some success integrating with IPython http://ipython.scipy.org/moin/Cookbook/IPythonEmacs23?highlight=%28emacs%29

... I have yet to try setting these things up.

I used to use IDLE before I picked up emacs... that was pretty good (except on a mac, it's TOTALLY BORKED on mac)
Some people like using Eclipse for python ... but screw Eclipse it just encourages people to write spaghetti code.
