After smashing his 756th career home run, the seven-time National League MVP pumped his fists in the air repeatedly. Bonds then reached into his back pocket and pulled out a large syringe labeled “DRUGS FOR CHEATING AT BASEBALL.” The San Francisco Giants slugger lowered his pants, injected himself in the buttocks, and extended both middle fingers before setting off on his record-setting jaunt around the bases.

Wilcox argues that teen sexual behavior can be influenced — that teenagers can be more than the sum of their hormones. But responsible behavior requires both “norms” and “networks.” An intellectual belief in right and wrong is not sufficient.

As a longtime, conservative gay reader I’ve learned to overlook a lot of, frankly, offensive commentary on the Corner. This post of yours, however, really requires a response. I mean, do you think this kind of thing is helpful to your broader agenda? Needlessly, thoughtlessly and callously, alienating potential allies is hardly a smart strategy. And posting patently meanspirited remarks isn’t a great idea, either.

This last quote suggests a method of getting conservatives to apologize — pretend to be a conservative except on a single issue. Bring up the alienation card. Presto.

(This works because conservatives are secretly terrified that they are hemorrhaging members of the “silent majority.” A very plausible fear. )
