New Furniture

Our new living room furniture arrived today. I used to find the old school sales model really tiring, but in this day of almost entirely anonymous commerce, I found going to a big store and getting help from a real live salesperson refreshing (including some marvelous price bargaining by Anastasia, try doing that online).
When moving furniture around I found out that our hutch had this strange looking bulb inside. I took this video.
I replaced the bulb with a CFL. Does anyone else find non-cfl bulbs slightly intimidating?

All that burning metal and high voltage? Definitely. However I find all the mercury vapor in CFLs to be almost as intimidating.
I think I need to incorporate more potentially destructive objects into the decor. It can be my thing.
