Randomness has nothing to do with it. I could create a program that randomly posts an entry from Wikipedia every day, but that wouldn’t be interesting (any more so than browsing or searching). What’s interesting about this medium is its curatorial properties. Having a curator structure your interaction with an idea is a strategy with a history that reaches back further than blogging.
