Researchers have definitely gone from being information seekers to being careful information filterers. Along with this trend, some say books are dead. I don’t think this is true. I have found that books are actually the best way to filter information.
- The amount of filtering required is inversely proportional to the quality of the source.
- Books are higher quality sources.
- Hence, less filtering is required.
Note that the lack of a good index could seriously hamper any shortcuts books may offer in finding quality information fast. What we really need is a book quality web.
