Researchers have definitely gone from being information seekers to being careful information filterers. Along with this trend, some say books are dead. I don’t think this is true. I have found that books are actually the best way to filter information.

  1. The amount of filtering required is inversely proportional to the quality of the source.
  2. Books are higher quality sources.
  3. Hence, less filtering is required.

Note that the lack of a good index could seriously hamper any shortcuts books may offer in finding quality information fast. What we really need is a book quality web.
