Movie Post

I just finished watching Mind the Gap. This is kind of a background movie, slowly paced throughout, it does not require a great deal of attention to detail scene to scene. The ending, however, is surprisingly effecting, and makes the previous two hours of plodding if not time lost, at least time rented at below market rates.

Yesterday I watched Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control. This is a quirky documentary about a topiary gardener, and animal trainer, a naked mole rat expert, and a robot scientist. The robot scientist is Rodney Brooks, of MIT CSAIL fame. I realized when I watched the documentary that I actually have little in common with Brooksian robotics. That’s a topic for another post.

It is hard to figure out what this documentary is really about. Passion for off the beaten track careers? I’m somewhat disturbed that all the main people interviewed where men.
